Why Should It Matter

KathleenK

Why does it confound you that I find value in you?
This saddens me so.
The reality of you not finding value in yourself,
This saddens me so.

I should not have to devour my vows to have you know I meant it
When I said I would love you ‘til death do us part.
--Just because you choose to depart before death does not negate my love.

Why when you throw it all away -- should it even make you tear up
When a near stranger says, "She still loves you?"

Why should it matter?

I should not have to devour my vows to have you know I meant it
When I said I would love you ‘til death do us part.
--Just because you choose to depart before death does not negate my love.
Your lack of being "in love" any more does not negate my love, either... life does not work that way, life is not that easy boy.

When my love for you has been denied for so many years... why should it matter how fully I love?
You have proven to disregard my true feelings.
Why should it matter?

"Maybe when this is all over we can visit when I travel out that way."
Good thing you said this to your kids.

With the kids, yes.
But not at my new house.
I have gone into protection mode;
You have forced that upon me, upon you.
Once stung,
Twice I shall not be bitten.

I may love too thickly
Oh well, that is how I was made
You can't control that
I can't control that

Loving is just part of my make-up.

Why Should It Matter
Tracie Skarbo
Hello KathleenL,

Just because you choose to depart before death dose not negate my love.

I found this typo in the second of this line. Other then this I found your poem to be a good depiction of what often happens with love and relationships.

Thank you so much
KathleenK
Hello Tracie -- Thank you for putting another set of eyes on this. It takes fresh eyes sometimes to see what the writer's mind reads and self corrects!

Yes, the dissolving of my marriage is no different than most all others. Some things are still kind of –universal.

A Healthy Relationship

Harvey... sigh... guess I am more than speculating. Sadly, this is a an unsaid set of notes to my soon-to-be-ex-husband. So yes, I do believe I have learnd the parameters... Sigh... Oh wait... this is a good thing. LOL

Love...and it all
KathleenK
Thank you Kate for stopping by and reading, and taking the time to comment.
(looks like we spell our last names wrong... in each others eyes as I am "Kline" :] ... makes me wonder if you are a Kathleen or?).

Yes, the language of love is... semi universal.
And I will admit... "Love to thickly" --Toni Morrison said it before I did... I fell in love with this phrase when reading and seeing "Beloved"
